Introducing Work Package 6: Proof of Concept Development

We are excited to announce the launch of Work Package 6 (WP6) starting in February 2025. This WP is a crucial part of the ECOBALLIFE project, as it is dedicated to the definition, design, and manufacturing of Proof of Concept solutions for personal and platform protection systems. Our primary objective is to develop technological demonstrators that meet the specified requirements and leverage the findings from previous work packages focused on personal and platform protection systems. These proof-of-concept solutions will undergo rigorous testing in representative environments to validate our research outcomes. 🛡️

WP6 has officially started focusing on:

Task 6.1: Proof of Concept Definition & Design, which is already underway. This task involves the meticulous definition and design of the final architecture for personal and platform protection systems. We are integrating innovative approaches and new capabilities derived from eco-design and simulations, exploring solutions based on textile structures, high-performance polymeric composites, metal alloys, lightweight ballistic ceramic materials, and their combinations as studied in earlier work packages.

Our commitment lies in optimizing existing solutions by enhancing the design process for protection systems, focusing on modularity, ergonomics, and comfort. We aim to boost performance and reduce the weight of protection systems through the development of novel design architectures that blend standard and sustainable materials. Furthermore, we are dedicated to overcoming various threats by advancing materials and methods.

Meet our Work Package Leader:

WP6 leadership lies with Linda Voittomäki from FYComposites Oy, who also serves as a project manager, holds a background in Materials Science and Engineering from Tampere University. Her expertise and leadership are pivotal to the success of this work package.
